Amy O'Brien

Amy O’Brien is a freelance journalist working between the UK and Italy, with a focus on the intersection of business, culture, and technology. Her writing explores how we work, think, create, and consume—shining a light on Italy’s emerging innovation landscape.

Her interest in the country’s tech sector began in 2015 during her time at YOOX, where she worked during its landmark merger with Net-A-Porter. That experience gave her an insider's view into the challenges and opportunities of the digital economy.

Amy has written extensively for Sifted, the leading publication for the European startup ecosystem backed by the Financial Times, where she focused on Italy’s most promising startups, with a particular emphasis on fintech. In addition to Sifted and the Financial Times, her work has appeared in Reuters, Dazed and Confused, AnOther Magazine, The Times, and The Guardian.
